Classes

Our program offers various options for the enjoyment of dance. From the first steps of our creative movement dancers to the intensive-level teen, to the dance-for-exercise and fun adult, we are sure you will find the perfect fit for your dance experience! Our school does not immediately move students to the next class level because they’ve taken for a full year, rather we wish for them to progress as they master each year’s coursework. New students will be asked to take a tentative- level class to ensure proper class placement rather than undergo an intimidating audition class.

Preschool classes: For ages 3.5 to 5

Creative Movement: ¾ hr basic introduction to dance class for the 3.5 to 4 year old. Students will perfect gross motor skills, right and left recognition, and social dancing while learning basic ballet steps, stage directions and terminology. All the while, they are dancing to age appropriate songs sure to bring a smile to mom and grandma alike!

Preballet I: First step into our ballet program. Children ages 4-5 will learn basic ballet movement patterns with emphasis on classical music timing and strengthening and awareness of their feet.

Preballet II (Coming fall 2012): For children ages 5-7 with a working knowledge of Preballet I skills. Students will continue to hone their strength and coordination for ballet class.

Next Steps: For ages 5-7

30/30: 1 Hr Ballet and Tap combination classes: This intro to ballet and tap class introduces students to the basics of ballet and tap.

30/30 R: 1 Hr Ballet and Tap combination class: For the second year ballet and tap student to continue progressions in order to be ready for our one hour classes.

Ages 7 to Adult: Pick a desired learning track!

Our classes are now offered on two training tracks:

A. The Recreational Track: This allows students to dance 1-2 classes a week and gain the self confidence of performing onstage at the end of the school year.

B. The Intensive Track: This allows the student who wishes to train extensively in dance to experience more of what the dance world has to offer. Our intensive dancers have the opportunity to perform more often if they wish to do so as members of our Expressions Ensemble or cast members of Peter and the Wolf.

Recreational Level Offerings:

Ballet 101 and 102: 1 hr Basic ballet curriculum based upon DEA’s ballet curriculum, developed by the School of American Ballet.

Intensive Track Offerings:

Intensive dancers have the ability to take classes across both the recreational and intensive spectrum. The foundation of this curriculum is the student’s desire to take 2 or more ballet technique classes weekly. In fact, we believe in your ballet training so strongly, that once you pay for 2 ballet technique classes a week, students may take as many ballet classes at their graded level or below for free!
